Ebertfest Day 2

April 23, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I am back at the hotel for a quick break between screenings. I just saw : My Winnipeg., a wonderfully cheeky & unique film film directed by Guy Maddin, who I met, and Ramin Bahrani's Chop Shop - Fabulous! I just saw Bahrani's film Goodbye Solo a few weeks ago. But tonight we are screening Trouble the Water. I fell in love with this great film when I saw it last year. The directors will be there as well as the subjects of the doc: Kim & Scott Roberts. Kim will be rapping after the …

Ebertfest – Day One

April 23, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

There are some basic survivor strategies that one must know when one comes to Ebertfest. I attended Ebertfest 2005 with my BFF Avis who was a big editor at the Chicago Sun Times and friend of Roger, so we had VIP-this and Press-that. But being a lone Cougar I had only the upgrade of Festival Pass which gives me early access to seating (general seating) before the single ticket holders. However, one must arrive very early to get the best seat cause there seemed to have been several hundred …

Trains Rock!!

April 22, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I haven't traveled on an Amtrak Train in 27 years! It was the most hassle free, comfortable mode of transit I'd experienced in years. There was no three mile exodus to a gate. I didn't have to remove my jewelry, shoes or bra to enter the train. I bought a business class ticket ($13.00 more) and got priority boarding, the seat rows were spaced far enough that I could fully extend my legs in front of me. I had a tray table in front of me that I opened and closed whenever, and my luggage was …

Packing Sucks!

April 22, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

And I really tried to psyche myself up for packing for this trip cause it's gonna be such an exciting adventure... but packing for a couple of nights is awful when the weather transitions dab smack in the middle of the trip! The temperatures will go from 38 degrees on Wednesday night to 81 degrees on Friday! OY! …

Movies I’ve Seen lately

April 21, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Adventureland: wonderful coming of age thing. Great music! Ah the 80's!! Sunshine Cleaning: Adorable, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are terrific as sisters at odds and Alan Arkin was doing his best post Little Miss Sunshine quirky - father- figure- thing. Goodbye Solo: very unique slice of life, unique characters - Roger loved this one. Monsters Vs. Aliens: Okay, okay. I admit it. A computer animated film has to really suck for me to hate it. I didn't hate this one but it did not knock …
