I am committed to doing all the shit I mentioned in my last blog entry. I had my meeting/class/private workshop with Arlene regarding my one woman show and what I learned is this: I GOTTA TON OF FUCKIN WORK TO DO!!! This ain’t no joke Jack!! No wonder I’ve put it off for 25 years!!!! I guess I had more living to do.
I met actress/comedienne/ broadway grande dame Elaine Stritch several years ago. We were both performing at a huge Charity event in Chicago. She was flown in as the celebrity guest star. We had a couple of great chats during that time and she was terrific: an old hoofer from Broadway and at least seventy years old.
I was chatting with her during one of our breaks and I told her that I wanted to write and perform a one woman show and she told me that she was in the process of writing her own one woman show. I asked her how it was going and she replied:” Oh Fuck! It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life! Let’s hope someone gives a damn!” “Elaine Stritch: At Liberty” subsequently became a huge hit on Broadway and London and toured the country to sell out crowds.
Now I’m not hoping for that kind of success, I just wanna get the damned thing up and running! I have tons of stuff written already… but the process of finding the themes, and the beginning and end is gonna be HUGE WORK. And you know I gotta sing in the damed thing. And you know it’s gonna have some major profanity and it’s gonna be dirty, but hilarious. But I’m up for it kids. I am committed. OY!!!
P.S. I am writing this at Starbucks! I am so excited!! But I didn’t know you had to fuckin subscribe to T Mobile for a day pass to access a “Hot Spot!” Dirty bastards! I reckon I shouldn’t expect WIFI for free… But they do have multiple hot spots in Amsterdam… so maybe it will be a good thing to have a subscription…
So do any world traveler internet types have any words of wisdom? It will be much appreciated!
