Yep. I’m still working out. I have gone to the gym regularly and when I don’t make it downtown to the Trump I have made use of my very well equipped home gym. My equipment may be “old school” but it still works the same muscle groups as the new-fangled stuff! I took a Pilates class on the reformer (a device using pulleys and straps and resistance that utilizes your own body weight and motion to create movements while seated on a movable platform on a track) and a swim class at the Health Club at the Trump. These group classes are offered throughout the day and I have been the only taker in each class I’ve chosen so far. I even worked out on an elliptical machine at a friend’s house after we went out for dinner. And tonight I hopped on the Bosu which is another exercise contraption. Picture an exercise ball on one side with a flat platform on the other side that sits on the floor. One balances on one’s feet on the ball side. The Bosu offers a DVD workout and man, does it kick ass! I was sweating in places I didn’t know I could. The routine includes a lot of lunges and I worried that my weak knees couldn’t handle it but I just kept the lunges small and when I finished the routine I found that my knees felt better than ever. I knew it! I just needed to strengthen them! I feel great! And it seems that the urge to binge on food has not overtaken me lately. I have been turning down junk food and huge portions. I just say “NO!”
So far so good.
Glad to see you going strong. I’m sure just talking about your workouts is motivating someone to try again. Well done.
You are so right Adrienne!! A couple people have emailed me and said so (why folks won’t just leave a comment here… grrr… they say they can’t get signed on…OY!) . Thanks for the encouragement.
I am working out on the west….and feeling the pain with you..I plan to do a drop in ballet class tomorrow. If it is all younguns I ain’t doin it.
I completed my 39 minute Bosu dvd – all sweaty and worked out!
The real test will be Thanksgiving and the kick off to the holidays…I adore pie. I remember your mama’s amazing sweet potato pie. I still have her hand written recipe.
