Every muscle in my body aches. That was my cry to a cousin the day after a very strenuous weight training workout with Trainer Jeremy. She became concerned: "Don't do too much. You could hurt yourself." I quickly explained that I have entrusted my training to a wonderful professional and the key to building strength and endurance is challenging oneself to do more every time. The pain is not serious. It is my body's natural response to the work. And it feels good because I know that my …
The Adventures of Permanent Lifestyle Change Girl: Looking Forward to … Working Out and Being the Best I Can Be.
Looking forward to working out. What kind of nonsense is that? Being the best I can be. Duh. That's the goal right? Well, let me tell you something: I got a bit bogged down in the mire (no work, no money, intense knee pain) and got stuck in a vacuum of inaction. I began to let life happen to me instead of taking charge of it and making my life happen. The Adventures of Permanent Lifestyle Change Girl: Showing Up Is Half The Battle
I didn't think about it. I knew I had to go. Even as the pain in my back and knee hampered my every move in bed, I got up slowly, cautiously. I thought to myself: "How the Hell am I going to the gym? Still I had an appointment with Trainer Jeremy and I said to myself: "One day my pain may keep me from it, but not this pain, not this day!" The folks at the Spa at Trump Chicago …
The Amazing Adventures of Permanent Lifestyle Change Girl:Cleaning My House Ain’t For Sissies…
Isn't that what Bette Davis said? I know she was referring to "getting old," but I have definitely gone through a lifetime of crap as I sift through the debris that makes up my household clutter. I found a secret stash of extra buttons - in their plastic baggies - from various clothing purchases. It's so kind of manufacturers to provide extra buttons. Kinda like a little hug. And I actually used my spare buttons - twice. I felt so vindicated! …
The Amazing Adventures of Life Change Girl – Litmus Test: The Bagel
Yep! I went to The Bagel last night for dinner and challenged myself to a eat lower fat meal for a change. My regular favorite waiter had my usual dinner order memorized: start with chicken soup which consisted of two giant baseball sized matzo balls, noodles and broth - in a cauldron. Large matzo ball with noodles please! BLT on whole wheat toast with fries and a side of mayo (for the fries) and about seventeen refills of regular coke. But that was not my order this night. …
