Lynne Jordan & the Shivers had another great weekend of work. I performed at the Drake Hotel on Friday and at a wonderful wedding on Saturday night. And we had a blast! We had to have a sub (substitute) on Bass as Dave had to do an out of town trip with his church. I was a wee bit nervous at first until Raymond told me about the guys he'd hired - two different subs - usually the optimal thing would be to hire one guy for both gigs but these dudes were such pros and so damned brilliant that …
This Train
News that I have neglected to share... I have been asked by the great artist Tony Fitzpatrick to become a part of the musical cast of his one man show entitled: "This Train" when he takes it to New York!!! Whoo hoo! Tony is a very successful artist who happens to reside in Chicago. I met him at a huge Art Show back in the early 90's. He is a published author and artist. He has appeared in several major motion pictures and now has this successful one man show that enjoyed a sold out run at …
This and that and everything else
It's been a busy few weeks. I have had some great gigs. Our private and corporate gigs which besides providing most of my income, also bring a lot of joy. You know how I like the challenge of crafting the perfect party vibe. Last Saturday was a particular challenge and triumph. We performed at a huge gala for a local Chicago hospital. There were upwards of a thousand guests at the party, all seated in the cavernous great hall of Union Station. The big donors and VIP's to the hospital …
Getting ready for show time.

I have to start thinking about support garments (girdle), organize music for tonight's audience, boa (or no boa?) make up, evening gown, getting prepared to put on the show-face and mindset and keep it on all night long! We are performing at a private party tonight - a fancy 60th birthday party in the city. It's a huge deal for the hosts - a joint party for a husband and wife, and guests came in from all over the world just for the occasion. And they are counting …
Million Dollar Quartet & Me: Oh What a Night!
I performed with The Million Dollar Quartet (MDQ) again last night. It was a wondrous experience again - even better than the last time I performed with them in May. I was very nervous the first time I sang with the show.. I was just plain scared. I was afraid that I would screw up the song lyrics, didn't know what to wear, I felt fat - the whole insecurity payload. I got over it by the time I started singing the Ruth Brown tune and that tune allowed me to clown a little bit and have …
