The New York Chronicles: Social Media

June 2, 2013 By //  by Lynne Jordan

We are entering the final stretch. My Musical Tribute to Nina Simone at City Winery NY is just a month away. I have gone through all kinds of panic over this show. Mostly, I have been traumatized over ticket sales but I have done much work thus far to promote this show. It has been too early to e-blast folks about a show months away so I have told everyone I know to tell their friends about the show mostly via Social Media. Social Media has become a powerful tool for so many reasons. It …

New York Chronicles: Ticket sales. “Buy Your Tickets Now!”

May 22, 2013 By //  by Lynne Jordan

My New York Club debut is just around the corner. I am performing my Nina Simone tribute on Tuesday, July 2 at City Winery NY. $15. I have 300 seats to fill. Today, my niece texted me. "30 tickets sold!" I was not very enthused even though the placement of her exclamation point seemed to express excitement. I was filled with a mild panic. No one is coming. Now, I know the show is more than a month away. I know it's too early to tell. My BFF Babs said to me just last night: "Don't let one …

I don’t want to go to Chelsea.

October 26, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Actually, that is completely untrue. The title of this post is a line taken from an Elvis Costello tune that I remember from my college days. (My sophomore roomie at Northwestern was a punk music fan.) The truth is that I am very excited about going to Chelsea (New York's West Village) for a day. I will be there for only several hours. I went on-line to find the perfect cafe to hang out and read or write in, and I picked out a place. Or maybe I will just walk around a bit. …

Back to the Drake Hotel

May 5, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Well, I guess it wasn't just me and my loved one's opinion.  Lynne Jordan & a Trio of Shivers done good.  The Drake has booked us for Friday nights through June and July.  Wow.  This is the start of my cabaret show development.  If I do this right and don't screw up (meaning I keep bringing in the new material) I could really create some magic here.   …

Go See: New York, I Love You.

October 29, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I just got home from the second installment in the "Cities of Love" Movies: "New York, I love You" Just like "Paris, Je T'aime" New York, I love You is a film featuring eight minute shorts directed by different director's with an all-star cast. The texture of this film was grittier, more... you know... New York. There were some repeat of themes: married couples role playing, a child care person's life as servant vs. their own world, love, and the city. New York seemed so full and so alive. …
