John Waters

December 15, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

John Waters & Me. Photo: Rick Aguilar His show was terrific (I laughed out loud all night) and you can see that he did allow photos! The post show party was great - free cocktails and yummy appetizers all night. I controlled myself... I have been a fan of John Waters since 1979 when I saw my first John Waters movie while I was an undergrad at Northwestern. Been a fan ever since. And he's a great writer also! He was kind, a total sweetheart, so soft spoken and mellow - just as he seems …

Get On The Bus.

December 14, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I am riding the bus for the first time in close to 15 years. I am not bragging. I say it rather shamefully. I don't even know what the fare is, but at $2.25 it is indeed a bargain. Y'all know about my taxi thing. I love taking taxis and it allows me to dawdle and depart 15 minutes before any appointment and get there on time. Thank you Lake Shore Drive. But taking the bus seems so proletariat and so fiscally responsible. Yes, my dears, these economic times call for drastic measures! I say …

The Amazing Adventures of Permanent Lifestyle Change Girl: Forty Pounds of Pressure.

December 14, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

That's how much pressure I've reduced from my joints and skeletal system. For each pound of body weight lost, there is a 4-pound reduction in knee joint stress among overweight and obese people and I've lost ten pounds, officially. And still I was debating on whether to order a cheese burger and fries at 3AM. I did not do it but I thought about it. Bad habits die hard. I said to myself: You just lost ten pounds! Why the hell would you want to order a cheeseburger & fries at 3AM! What's …

Anne Marie has left the stage.

December 10, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

She showed up at one of my gigs in the early years at Blue Chicago in the mid 90's. Always sitting alone, stage right with a note pad in hand - writing stories and songs. Shortly after our first meeting she told me she liked to sing & perform and I would call her up to do a number or two. She was good. And she was a true free spirit, artistic, smart, beautiful, fashionable, so positive and so very funny. I loved her immediately. I saw her through her restaurant years, various apartments, …

The Amazing Adventures of Permanent Lifestyle Change Girl: Hanging in there!

December 7, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I have to admit to some missed days of exercise. And a tad bit of indulgent eating BUT I did not given up or totally give in! Nor have I said: "Fuck it!" when it comes to watching what I eat. I'm keeping my eyes on the prize. I had a bit of emotional turmoil - dealing with some family drama that almost made me throw in the scale for a day or two but I held steady. Today is a new day. …
