I’m making two recordings. Finally!

April 21, 2022 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Hey Folks! It's been a long time and so much has happened. I will just talk about the exciting news. It's been 20 years since I made a recording. I made A Bit o Fun in 2002 and Holiday Shivers in 2004. They were both self-produced.  Fast forward to 2022 and still no label interest, not that I actively pursued it, but there are some great labels here in Chicago and they have zero interest. So, I find myself self producing again. The difference is that we are coming out from the dead stop of the …

A Great Big Diva!: Never too late to make that dream happen!

October 17, 2017 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I am finally fulfilling a dream I've had for decades: writing & performing my own one woman show. It will be funny (of course) and it's a musical but I will also share a couple moments of heartache as well. I am collaborating with a monstrously talented writer in L.A. named Andrew Barrett and it's been an amazing experience. (all thanks to my "angels:" former Young & the Restless Head writer P kay Alden and her husband Vern Nelson) my producers: Ira Antelis and Tom McDonald.  Still, I …

Nina Simone & Me.

June 29, 2016 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I'm getting into Nina-mode. Taking on this show is a challenge on some levels (logistically, financially) but it is also the easiest thing I have ever done. Many have questioned my choice to bring the band with me to my show in Atlanta. Why not pick up musicians in Atlanta? The answer is simple: I want a certain level of comfort and ease on stage because I want to be totally free of worry. I need to have my guys (The Shivers) behind me because they know me and will guarantee the best …

nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger

January 26, 2016 By //  by Lynne Jordan

That is the opening line of a piece from my one woman show that I performed at the January Story Jam series in Wimette, Illinois. Wilmette is a mostly affluent, predominantly White suburb of Chicago. I entitled the story "nigger," which tells the story of the first time I was called such by a White person. I have to admit that I had some reservations about presenting a story about being called a nigger to a mostly White audience - for about a minute. Hell, I told the world that I weigh 300 …
