Michael Jackson’s Death

June 25, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I am so sad today. I am amazed at how this news has touched me. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson. My memories stretch back for years: I can visualize scenes from basement birthday parties where the music of the Jackson 5 is the soundtrack. My first memorized pop song lyrics come to mind with his voice singing them: ABC, EASY AS ONE, TWO, THREE, AS SIMPLE AS DO RE MI, ABC, THAT'S HOW EASY LOVE CAN BE... I WANT YOU BACK, I'LL BE THERE... takes me right back to Jonetta Jones' …

Iran

June 22, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I just viewed some of the footage shot by civilians (via cell phones) during the recent crackdown by Iran's Revolutionary Guard against the street demonstrations that have risen in Iran during the past week. The people are protesting what they see as a fixed election result. The recent "landslide" election victory of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi (the expected winner) has the Iranian people calling "foul!" and they aren't taking this one sitting …

Some Great Gigs!! Weddings, Corporate Events, Clubs…

June 3, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

We have had some fabulous gigs lately. It's been a real pleasure these past few weeks. Everyone has been in the mood to party! I notice it now more than ever before. Maybe because spring has sprung, or Obama is President, or people are just feeling optimistic but our audiences have been so enthusiastic. Of course I might add that the band is sounding better than ever these days, especially with the horn arrangements that Kenny Anderson (on trumpet) has been creating! Anyway, I am so happy …

I’m thinking a Jazz Cd

June 2, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Hell, if Queen Latifah could do it, why not me? Just cause I couldn't recall a few lyrics don't mean I can't record a Jazz cd. Ha! Gotta start cramming up on my lyrics. Or maybe I will just record songs that I like and feel regardless of their genre. I am a very versatile singer and can sing most styles really well so I gotta just do what I do best... and showing versatility ain't a bad thing. Cassandra Wilson does it, Ledisi and Queen Latifah. Natalie Cole has had two careers: soul & Jazz …
