My Friday, Jan 1st Concert at City Winery Chicago: The Preparation, The Worry, The Show.

December 7, 2015 By //  by Lynne Jordan

It's 5AM and I figure that I may as well do something besides bemoan the fact that my sleep schedule is screwed up. I have a lot of work to do for my upcoming Lynne Jordan & the Shivers show at City Winery Chicago. They asked me to perform on New Year's Night which happens to fall on a Friday. This is a change, as all of my past shows have been on a week day. One might think that would be easier to fill the seats but it is New Year's Day and folks will be out of town or tired from New Year's Eve …

Another Great Weekend of Performing.

October 17, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Lynne Jordan & the Shivers had another great weekend of work. I performed at the Drake Hotel on Friday and at a wonderful wedding on Saturday night. And we had a blast! We had to have a sub (substitute) on Bass as Dave had to do an out of town trip with his church. I was a wee bit nervous at first until Raymond told me about the guys he'd hired - two different subs - usually the optimal thing would be to hire one guy for both gigs but these dudes were such pros and so damned brilliant that …

Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

December 28, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

If I go there will be trouble And if I stay it will be double ... The Clash 1982 Yep, the age-old question: Should I stay or should I go? Oh, this isn't pertaining to love or the angst of a lost love or any of that crap. I'm trying to decide if I should go out tonight. But I have a dilemma. …

Fosse On My Mind

November 29, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I went to a dance concert tonight. Talk about a change of pace! The Thodos Dance Chicago performed their Winter concert at the 1500 seat Harris Theater in the Millenium Park Arts complex. The company has been around for 18 years. I had never heard them but my BFF Barbara was quite enthused and roped me in. A huge attraction of the concert was the collaboration with the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse's muse Anne Reinking to present the "Fosse Trilogy" which showcased choreography Fosse …

Cabaret full of Dreams

November 11, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

So the word "cabaret" keeps popping into my life these days. The great Ann Hampton Callaway told me to "do some Cabaret - that's how I started." That was last year. And now I have been asked to emcee and perform with the Chicago Cabaret Project on their Voltaire Cabaret nights on Tuesdays in December at Hydrate - a gay club in town that has a lovely back room with a nice cabaret stage. …
