San Franciso fucking ROCKS!!
So I decided to stay and checked into the most wonderful hotel. I can not recommend this place enough to you. It is called Hotel Vitale It is what The W aspires to be: Modern, natural, minimalist but totally luxe. My room had a view of the Bay bridge and the waterfront.
It wasn’t cheap but it was so worth it!!!! I immediately made spa appointments as soon I checked in. I was treated to the best customer service and love from the staff.
I had a 90 minute deep tissue with a medicine man/massage therapist named Jimmy – Jimmy Kong. It was one of the best massages I have ever had. And I am a massage ho. This man zeroed in on every sore spot, knot and mangle of muscle tension in my body. He used his elbows, knees, jumped on my back…he did all but walk on my back… He kept referring to my back as “my condition” – who knew?
Afterwards he asked me to stand and turn my back to his, which I did until I realized he wanted to crack my back. OH HELL NO! This guy was about 5 foot 4 inches tall and 125 pounds. He kept leaning forward with our arms linked and so I was arched back over him, but because of his height I was able to keep my feet on the floor. There was no way I was gonna put all of my weight onto his little back. But he insisted!
JK: lift your feet off the ground and put your weight on my back.
ME: I don’t think so. [to myself: I will crush you to the ground]
JK: You must co operate! Trust me!
ME: Okay. [to myself: it’s your funeral!]
And so I allowed poor Jimmy Kong to flip my entire weight on his back.
“Crack!” I heard it and I felt it. It was miraculous how much better I felt. I’ve been experiencing lower back pain, a fucked up knee and shoulder pain (from carrying heavy shit on the gig) plus all of this weight and my boobs for ages. It felt like he realigned my spine. Jimmy Kong – Medicine Man!
The next treat was the deck top soaking tub… Oh Lordy!! You book the time solo or with a partner (there are two tubs) and soak in an infinity/recyclable water tub on the top deck of this hotel in the open air.

It is surrounded and hidden by frosted aqua colored glass walls and they are in turn covered by bamboo trees. There is new age music playing, a cold compress for your hot forehead (water is 104 degrees) fresh fruit and tea.
and chinese lanterns.
and of course cool cucumbers to cover your eyes.
I was the last customer that evening and so spa Goddess Jessica let me float for as long as I wanted. It was wonderful. I was sitting in the middle of downtown on a rooftop looking up at a bamboo framed sky…
I lifted my legs which of course floated to the surface of the water and I never felt more at peace. God, I love this place. Life is beautiful. I am… still.
I floated downstairs to my room and sat on my deck.
And watched the view with the complimentary champagne I received upon my arrival.

Soon it’s time for a lovely dinner. The desk clerk told me it was “a short walk” to a wonderful restaurant called Globe. I felt like Moses wandering thru the desert. Luckily I had the map with me and figured out where the hell I was going. So 30 minutes later (grrr) I arrive at Globe. I was dining alone but pretty soon was joined by a couple of ladies one table over. We pushed my table together with theirs (a mother & daughter visiting from Phoenix) and had a lovely meal together. The girls left and three martinis later I decided to move to the bar cause I was starting to feel kinda “lonely lady esque” with my empty table and martini glass yellin: “filler up!”
I taxi’d home and sat out on my deck again with a night view of the bridge…
This city, this hotel… Love this town!!
