Yep, the age-old question:
Should I stay or should I go?
Oh, this isn’t pertaining to love or the angst of a lost love or any of that crap.
I’m trying to decide if I should go out tonight. But I have a dilemma.
I hate to leave my house.
Though I have to admit that Holiday 2009 was way more festive for me than usual. I was “Miss Go, Go Go” for a minute there. But then after Christmas Day the “sloth gene” took over again. But I’ve had enough of my house, laying on the couch and sleeping.
Let me rephrase:
I hate to leave the house except when I am running all over town or going to a movie.
But I am not going to a movie until after the New Year because I don’t want to be in the theater with other people.
OMG!! – how anti-social that must sound!!
Actually, I rather enjoyed the few times I have had to share a movie theater with other humans. It’s just not a thing I seek out to do. I always go to movies during the week at the last showing or some other “I have no life” time. So, the theater is usually empty – especially considering the types of films I go see (art – indie – foreign.) You will miss these films if you don’t get out to the theater to see them right away. Most of theses films have a very short limited release. Thank Goodness for Roger Ebert or I might have missed any dozen of truly great foreign and indie films.
Anyway, it’s Monday night and I wanna go out!!
It’s Monday Night: Boom Boom Room at the Green Dolphin Street. It’s Gay Night (but not strictly Gay;) Service Industry types – bar tenders and servers; musicians; DJ’s; House Music Heads; cool folks; geeks; freaks and the occasional celebrity. And the party’s been going on for damn near twenty years! It is a “come as you are” love-fest with friendly, polite people who will tell many a fat bitch how “fierce” she looks. It is a great party for all ages, especially if you have no hangups about age and sexual orientations of others and if you love to dance. This ain’t much of a poser party. This is a dance party. And I know everyone there. They are my family – my little made up, club kid, off-beat family. I miss them so!
Okay, so maybe there is a little posing going on… But this is one of my closest friends: Reggie Newport!
Hmmm – so what’s the problem?
Oh yeah, I’m trying not to drink and I need to be home in bed at a decent hour so I can perform at Cabaret Tuesday tomorrow:
SHAMELESS PLUG: Come see/hear me emcee/host/sing at this very different kinda night out. It is a professional review – dancing, singing, humor galore and even gymnastics, and of course: ME!!! And it’s done before eleven p.m.
Plenty of time to get home and get to bed before morning.
But back to tonight: I could have a nice big yummy salad beforehand at the restaurant at The Green Dolphin Street. And my dear friend Pauli is bartending/serving.

It’s kind of late now but I hope you decided to go. You can stay home when you’re old like me. 🙂

Lcn: I went out and it was a HUGE night! I didn’t know it was a reunion for Shelter Nightclub – abig Chicago Club in the 90’s and all of the old staff, owners and clientele were there and of course that meant 40 to 50 somethings at the youngest! It was packed to the gills but I had my VIP thang and had an absolute blast! I went to the main floor dancing area and the energy was palpable! I kept screaming at the surge and then went back to my comfortable seat in the restaurant. I ran into old friends and made new ones… what a great time!
