My Cubby Bear Lounge Gig – the Best Birthday Party Ever!!

July 20, 2010 By //  by Lynne Jordan

palpable energy at The Cubby Bear Lounge
Maybe it was the Cubs Fans, maybe it was the energy in the room, it was definitely the tequila being served up to me via the audience, but I had the best birthday celebration ever. The Shivers were on fire and mama was loose. I had on thee most comfortable outfit ever. It was a black skirt and tank and light cotton jacket thing and I felt cute. I could feel the lack of McDonalds and Pizza that I haven’t eaten. I sang my ass off. The guys were pumped up and happy, jiving on the energy of an audience who treated us like rock stars. It was Heaven. I felt sexy and gritty and real and I remembered why I love my life. Rock and Roll. Happy Birthday to me. Fuck all that other bullshit I said before. Except for the part about:

“I am never more happy than after a great show. I am never more whole than after a great performance. I am never more empowered than when I am before an audience doing my thing well. I believe that entertaining and connecting with an audience is like making magic. And I am way into magic. I want to make them sing, laugh and cry out loud. I want them to let themselves go and dance. I love making a party happen. I love feeling that moment when the seal is broken and the party takes on that “thing.’ And it happens all the time when I sing with my great band.” (See post: The Real Truth: blah, blah, blah)

Tonight was all that and a bag of chips!

Indeed. When you feel that sort of passion-you know it’s right. When I create art I feel released, when I see my girls and we banter, I feel free and like they say, find a job you love and never work a day in your life.
Hope the tequila didn’t killya too bad. I loves tequila.

No I didn’t drink that much. I cut it off after two or three… shots. But remember I am not eating as much as usual…
