It’s 7:30AM and I am up and “at it.” And for a change, I’m not still awake from last night! I have a morning thing to sing at the Cook County Treasurer’s Office and I am trying to figure it out. They want me to come into the office – which will be filled with the general public paying bills, a dignitary or two and staff, and surprise a big fan with a “Happy Birthday” song – a cappella. It seemed like a great idea when I was asked. I spent the last hour in bed fretting over whether I would oversleep and so I just got out of bed early.
What to wear? Should I “Diva-out?” Oy! At this hour? Oh well, I am trying to get used to singing a lot, whenever, wherever. Some of you are not going to believe this and some of you faithful readers have read it before, but I am really very shy about the singing thing and I have a lot of stage fright. Once I get up there (in the spotlight) I am fine but the thought of putting myself out there on display really stresses me out sometimes. That is why I have kept myself locked away for so long. Funny thing that. Luckily, the Recession has made it a necessity to get out and over myself – that, and an occasional call to my ancestors and Janis Joplin gets me out the door…
Show business – here I come! Power bracelets: ON!
P.S. I have a corporate gig tonight with the Shivers. That one is easy because I’m with my boys. And as BFF Babs always says: You’ll be fine. You stress out beforehand but then you are always so happy afterwards.
You’d think I’d never done this before!!
Lynne

So, did you diva up or go incognito?
What about the birthday girl or boy – did they enjoy the surprise?
And the general public – did they applaud and get widening smiles on their faces?
Lynne
P.S. Bob: I diva’d out a bit…
