Lynne Jordan | A Great Big Diva

Good fun at the Green Dolphin (despite my potty mouth)

March 8, 2009 By //  by Lynne Jordan

The night started off kinda slowly. The room was practically empty at 8PM. I was freaking!! I thought to myself: Oh great, I’m gonna have to come outta pocket for this one. (to pay the band) And then one of my friends engaged – or should I say enslaved– me into some ridiculous conversation about her hair color:

Do you think its too red?

I’m thinking to myself:

We’re in a dark nightclub bitch! And who gives a shit? I have my own problems. No one is coming to my gig. I SUCK! I’m going to graduate school and become an accountant! I can’t take this any more!!! How am I gonna pay the band?

Obviously, I had my own dark thoughts to contend with! However it was after someone else butt into the conversation that I noticed that the room had suddenly filled up with familiar faces, and all was well. Unfortunately I had already slammed a shot of tequila and a martini to calm my nerves… Mama was “on” last night – with a bit of a potty mouth! But I was funny!!

There was a wonderful photographer there named David Loew who took a ton of photographs of the night. He came at the request of the wonderful painter and my good friend Chuck Walker I am so glad that he came. I got just a few glances of some of the shots and they were fantastic!! Can’t wait to share them with you all. I have to get them from him.

So thanks to you all for your wonderful support!! Special shout out to Linda Kosarek who ALWAYS comes to hear us play and dances her heart out. God Bless Ya Linda!!

The band sounded fantastic as usual. The horns are simply smokin” They add so much. They are the finish. You gotta come hear ’em!

I had a blast performing last night. There is nothing like playing for a group of people whose smiling faces just exude love for you. There is nothing more wonderful than hearing your audience whoop and holler, whistle and applaud and finally dance to show they are with you. That’s what last night was like.

Show business, no business like it, no business at all.
