anthem
I have a recording session tomorrow and it’s kinda important, I mean it could lead to something important. I haven’t been in the studio for ages. I’m excited, nervous and a little bit scared. What if I am only… okay? You know how I cling to my comfort zone… but it’s an ideal situation with a kind hearted old friend from college who seems to drop into my life every fifteen years or so and hands me a miracle. And we reconnected through Facebook.

And despite my nerves I feel like I have a handle on the song. I just learned it today.

I don’t know why I’m feeling so much trepidation. I must stop feeling so insecure and afraid of the unfamiliar. My BFF Andrea says that I seem very brave to her. She’s the brave one. She is always in the studio: writing tunes; singing lead and all of the backing vocals; making solo trips to perform in clubs in Europe and the Middle East singing to tracks…

I feel like the world’s best singing underachiever.

My assignment at the studio: to sing with energy and raw soul. Wish me luck!

Later, some of the Shivers and I are performing at a private engagement – as a cabaret act – featuring yours truly. Reggie Newport made me an exquisite dress for the occasion – it’s black and completely covered in fringe. I went to a final fitting and was so shocked when he brought the dress to me. He was holding it up by the shoulders and it looked humongous – like he was about to hang a black fringed single sized fitted bed-sheet out to dry on a clothesline. All he needed was the clothespins. Oy Gevalt! Once I stepped into it I realized that he had not forgotten to sew up the side seams… It fit, perfectly. He has made me promise to wear heels with the dress… Okay…
black-heels

Will let you know how it all turns out. EEK!

You know Lynne, I was at the Bulls game with you when you did the national anthem. I videotaped you and took pictures. There were thousands of people there and you marched right on to that basketball court and sang the national anthem. I was so proud of you then and you keep on amazing me. You have such great talent. You are a kind and beautiful soul. You can do anything you set your mind too.
