Well, I guess it wasn’t just me and my loved one’s opinion. Lynne Jordan & a Trio of Shivers done good. The Drake has booked us for Friday nights through June and July. Wow. This is the start of my cabaret show development. If I do this right and don’t screw up (meaning I keep bringing in the new material) I could really create some magic here. The manager gently nodded toward some restrictions – no drinking on stage – not a problem, and he made some request-like-gesture towards repertoire but I really do feel he “gets it” and gets me and will allow me to do my thing. I’m not some lounge singer sitting and waiting for requests. I’m gonna give them a show. I’m gonna give them me. And I am ready for this – there is a chance to really shine here. The guys are all on board – Brady especially – even Ray gave up a coupla better paying piano dates to keep our little combo cohesive – no subs. The Drake is a fine, elegant venue and the clientele is sophisticated with a fine eye for quality entertainment. Yeah baby… me and the Palm Court at the Drake Hotel are a perfect pair.
Funny note about last Sunday: I sang “Fly Me to the Moon” which I usually do as a duet with Mike (in his Louis Armstrong voice) and because I hear his part so clearly in my head even when I perform it solo, I decided to do both my natural voice and mimic Mike’s voice (doing his part) and called it my “ode to schizophrenia.” It tore the place up! I forgot about what a great mimic I can be and that I can act. I’m gonna have fun with this. I got to get to work!
Comfort zone? Who needs a comfort zone?
Power Bracelets: ON
I’ll keep you posted.
P.S. It was Ann Hampton Callaway who encouraged me to explore the cabaret thing. That’s how she got started around town in New York City. Oh yeah, I still got my sights set on the Big Apple.

Hey Lynne . . .
Really nice to see you stretching out what your definition of the blues is all about. Rockabilly, Cabaret, Comedy . . . it’s all of that. The Blues has always been about personality & individuality because 3 chords can only be permutated so many different ways.
People gravitate towards blues performers and it’s really irrelevant what the label is they’re wearing . . . Ray Charles did some pretty mean-ass Country recordings and while others were shocked, musicians understood that real music transcends all labels. Good music is just that . . .
Really excited and look forward to re-connecting for dinner soon . . . if you busy-ass schedule will allow.
Peace & Love,

Lynne
Well, hello Herr Doktor… My “busy-ass” schedule always permits a dinner with you. Why don’t you check in with my secretary to find my first availability… LOL Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
P.S. Nina Simone has become my beacon and muse for this new leg of my performing journey…

Power Bracelets not required! Look out Palm Court and Drake guests! The first taste of Lynne Jordan just leaves you hungry for her next performance!! This Diva is already a multitalented Chicago star. A cabaret show is one more facet to this diamond. Be at the Palm Court on Fridays in June and July to see her sparkle.
Lynne
Thank you very much Debo – a fan from way back!!
