Sherry Baby

October 29, 2008 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Me & the boys had another great rehearsal tonight. We had some special song requests from wedding clients that we went over today and one of the songs was "Sherry" by Fankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The whining I heard from my band about learning "Sherry" - "that's some cheesy shit man!" - was even more shrill than the falsetto Frankie Valli sings on the damn song!! However, as we joked our way through it and began working on the vocal harmonies it became apparent that maybe it wasn't so …

Trouble The Water

October 22, 2008 By //  by Lynne Jordan

I started writing this blog after I saw two films: The Duchess (beautiful period costume drama starring Kiera Knightly & Raiff Fine) and most notably, the documentary about Hurricane Katrina (that wowed the critics) "Trouble the Water." But the blog/review was so long that I shelved it. However, even after three weeks, I can not get the film "Trouble the Water" out of my mind. And so I decided to post my recap of one of the most wonderful documentary films I have ever seen. It was the most …

Great rehearsal for Saturday at the Dolphin

October 21, 2008 By //  by Lynne Jordan

We had a blast at rehearsal today. The horns sound so great. I can't wait for our show on Saturday. I hope people (audience) show up. Just having those horn parts charted out and ready to go, then hearing them played was so satisfying. Kenny Anderson (trumpet player) rocked those charts to create a huge sound with lots of show biz. We are all very happy. I lost seventeen pounds. …

A Dream (man) Deferred

October 12, 2008 By //  by Lynne Jordan

Unbeknownst to most of you - my cyber family, I have been involved in a rather serious infatuation with an absolute dream of a man. He is gorgeous and sexy and sensitive and spiritual and gorgeous and sexy and smart and gorgeous and sexy. And I have been obsessed with him for weeks now. We have been doing this kind of dance around the hot chemistry thing for weeks now and it had been building to porn movie proportions: walking by each other, grasping a finger and holding on, running my nails …

The Arthur Brothers

October 5, 2008 By //  by Lynne Jordan

"The Arthur Brothers" - That's how my parents used to refer to arthritis. And they had it bad. My dad had osteoarthritis. His joints were deformed by it over the years... swollen knees, knobs on the elbow. He would sometimes complain but only in a joking manner: "Them Arthur brothers got me this morning" My father served in two wars - World War II and in Korea. What's a little arthritic pain compared to taking a bullet on the battlefield and winning a purple heart? I have no such heroics to …
