I sang at the Drake last night to 12:30am and then home to freak some more over clothing choices for this weekend’s events. As usual, I got very little sleep (seventy-five minutes) and and I am near death from exhaustion.
Once we got to Toronto Airport all was upstaged by the coolness of the facility and it’s location. Toronto’s airport is located on a canal with a breathtaking view of the skyline, and the gentle calls of seagulls and waves crashing up on the breakers. We had a two hour layover at the Toronto airport and the exit doors are situated not more than fifty feet from the water. The view and the summer breeze off the water really lessened the blow of my exhaustion and I enjoyed a quiet moment or two on a convenient park bench.
Should I drag Raymond along to play keys for me? But is that proper since it is invitation only? I reckon I will take my fake book and sing with the jazz combo… and my dress looks… shabby… I am going to sleep.
P.S. Our hotel is very nice. My room has only a standing shower (albeit a very nice one) but I was picturing a long soak in the tub… sigh… there is a spa here…king sized beds – rooms to ourselves… I ain’t complaining!!! Good night!
Lynne, you must sleep tonight. You can stay up all night when you get home. Tomorrow is a huge day for you. I’m so excited about it. Have a great time!!! p.s. the pictures you posted are beautiful! Is it cool there?
LCN: Don’t worry! To bed I go! I had thee best time at the ambassador’s house! He is amazing, the people were very cool, the food was awesome, his wife is lovely, the house is lovely. Hearing him talk about President Obama was wonderful to watch… seeing someone talk about him with utter confidence and admiration is so refreshing. The media has surrounded us with so much negativity about our young, brilliant, earnest president that we forget.
It is very warm & humid here. I’m gonna melt tomorrow on the stage…
