Trains Rock!!

I haven’t traveled on an Amtrak Train in 27 years! It was the most hassle free, comfortable mode of transit I’d experienced in years. There was no three mile exodus to a gate. I didn’t have to remove my jewelry, shoes or bra to enter the train. I bought a business class ticket ($13.00 more) and got priority boarding, the seat rows were spaced far enough that I could fully extend my legs in front of me. I had a tray table in front of me that I opened and closed whenever, and my luggage was stored a few feet away from me. I was also seated a few feet from the food service car.

Okay, granted, I was only traveling for two hours. It seemed like thirty minutes.

I was up all night last night – like a kid on Christmas Eve. So I arrived with hours ahead of me and totally exhausted. A shuttle appeared to pick me up five minutes after I arrived in Champaign Urbana and dropped me off at my hotel. (This hotel ain’t the Trump, but it’ll do!) I got checked in before 11A.M. and walked across the driveway to grab a bite at the convenient chain eatery connected to the hotel. All of the servers look about twelve years old wearing mock sports referee uniforms.

Do I order off the lunch menu?

The lunch menu items are the same price as our other menu items!

Huh?????

I really just wanted to know if I should order from the lunch menu versus the… Oh, nevermind…

I got my burger to go.

And slept! I now have just a few moments before I embark upon Ebertfest to screen our first movie: Woodstock, 3 Days of Peace & Music, The Director’s Cut which clocks in at just under FOUR HOURS!!

Here we go!!

P.S. My twenty six year old shuttle driver had never heard of Woodstock!

Woodstock -Whats’s that?
