It is always great to receive the love and support of friends and fans alike. And sometimes a person of prominence takes an interest in promoting your talent and will enrich your life just by their say so. That is my great fortune. Roger Ebert the great film critic, writer, screen writer, artist (Yeah, he [...]

I just returned from seeing Crazy Heart. I haven’t been so excited by a film in ages. It is terrific. I stood outside the theater pacing back and forth waiting to gush with some fellow movie lovers. So, I decided to come home to share it with you.

I have been back at it folks – going to the movies. I had a moment there (about a month or two) where I didn’t see shit, but I’m over that now. The thing is you gotta go every week to keep up with the indie and foreign flicks cause some of them stay at [...]

I should have known better… I had way too much fun last week. I let my guard down. I forgot to wait for the other shoe to fall! I am not normally a pessimist. I am a fairly happy person. I almost never take off my rose colored glasses. But I am in show business. [...]

I’m still unpacking and compiling my notes from Ebertfest 2009. I intend to add more detailed postings about the films and experiences. However I realize that now that I’ve returned to Chicago, it’s business as usual and I’ve got even less time than when I had a full day of screenings! OY! Saw BFF Barb’s [...]

Sunday April 26th: I had all kinds of logistical issues on this day: noon checkout, noon movie, two pieces of luggage, an Ebertfest tote bag full of books, exhaustion, and an 8P.M. train departure. What to do? What to do from 2P.M. – 8P.M.? (remember the noon check out) Well, like everything else on this [...]

Frozen River. That says it all for me. This was a lovely, lovely film! More tears. I am starting to lose my mind over how fantastic these movies are! Once again we were treated to the presence of the writer/director (Courtney Hunt – first time filmmaker), one of the stars (Misty Upham) and Michael Barker, [...]

Oy!! This festival is starting to exhaust me! That was my thought this morning when I rolled outta bed at 9:30A.M. to get some books autographed by Roger and to attend a forum about film. That exhaustion turned into exhilaration by the time I reached the theater. I just saw Begging Naked, a documentary by [...]
