San Fran, Sonoma Co.wedding & the Shivers
This is gonna sound totally contradictory but I just got saved by 2Pac whilst riding first class to San Fran. Okay, maybe not saved, but 2pac was kicking my ass. See I was never that familiar with 2pac per se other than the hits right and on a whim I downloaded “All Eyez On Me” and it just came up randomly on my computer and shit woke my ass up!! There I was amidst the elders in first class rockin’ my head. Wanted to jump up and dance and shout or smoke a blunt – ya dig?
So after a rather wonderful flight – FIRST CLASS ROCKS – we arrive in San Fran. The boys are in good spirits and when The Shivers are happy – mama is happy. So we check into a cute older hotel in the Union district and the boys are planning to go sight seeing. I am too exhausted to do shit but get a nice meal and beddy bye cause I stayed up all night Thursday since I waited to pack at 1AM. At this point I was still debating wjether to come home on Sunday with the rest of the Shivers or stay two extra nights in San Fran. I was keeping it open. I was sposed to stay with my BFF Carla but she had some complications and so I would have to book a hotel. What to do? What to do? I decided to wait & see how much I was jonesing for more San Fran time after Friday. The Boys however got food and went driving.
So after an amazing meal I went to bed – too early tho cause I was wide awake at 2:30AM and we needed to be on the buses for Sonoma County (wedding site) And there I was again unable to get to sleep and knowing I need to be way more than just awake for the gig later.
So we pull up into a very rustic and sleepy town of Guerneville and the even sleepier property that was to be our home for the night: Ferngrove Cottages. I think it was sleepier because the inn Keeper kept giving me instructions like:
Inn keeper: “You will be responsible for any damage done to the room”
Me: (to the boys) “No TV tossing!”
IK: “no pets”
ME: (to the boys) “Put away the Iguana!”
IK: “And when you get back from the wedding please try not to make a lot of noise partying at night”
ME: “Please honey, we’ll be lucky if these old farts aren’t asleep before the gig is over!”
I had a jacuzzi in my cottage. Each cottage had a theme. My cottage theme was Pink Flamingoes. see the wee darlings in the photo?

The wedding was down the road and across the lane in a picturesque spot surrounded by redwoods. There are some big assed trees in CA!!

So I caught a nap and then we all got dressed up and headed for the site all.
And the party was fabulous. It was elegant but not over the top…It was just lovely.

The bride was rocking. She was soo happy and danced all nite.
This was a great band trip. We all laughed so much. These trips can be huge bonding experiences and when the client (as in this case) totally takes care of us – it is da bomb!
