Oh Chum, Come to the Cabaret!

And so I have been thinking… maybe I should put together a little cabaret bit, you know like my shows are anyway, but minus the big long dance party?  I have found that a lot of my old timers (long time fans) bemoan the “ole days” before I became “Miss Dance Party Band leader”.  Mind you, I have always kept a part of that cabaret – double – entendre – thing in my club and festival dates, but the dance numbers are starting to outweigh the more subtle (Ha! subtle like:  ”If I Can’t Sell It, I’m Gonna Keep Sittin On It”) sophisticated showbiz numbers. Sometimes the occasion calls for high energy, dance tunes, and yall know Lynne Jordan & the Shivers can deliver, but there is that other side of me as a performer and singer.  And people are missing that. Frankly, I miss it too – sometimes.  But let me tell you, it’s a lot more work, but I ain’t scared,  plus I don’t have to worry about Isiah showing up on time!!!  I know the guys are up for it.  I will never stop singing the party music. And most great “dance tunes” dance tunes can be done cabaret style… “I Will Survive” If a Diva done it, it can be done with piano or trio. I hear the siren’s call.  Cabaret/Broadway/Divaway is where I truly, truly shine. I am an entertainer after all.  And so I throw it out to you folks: WOULD YOU COME SEE ME PERFORM LIKE A TRUE CHANTEUSE?  It’ll be fun, and hilarious, and dirty and poignant.   You know me, I’ll make you dance and laugh one minute and break your heart the next. Davenports has offerred me a slot or two.  I really think I’m gonna take ‘em up on it… I got two new songs already. One is called:  Big Long Sliding Thing (by Dinah Washington, she’s talking about a trombone, you potty brains!) and My Discarded Men (by Eartha Kitt) I also want to sing some dance tunes unplugged and some Joni Mitchell, Gospel…whoo hoo! I wanna sing all the stuff you can’t really sing at a wedding without killing the party.  What do you think? Sounds like a album concept to me. Will someone please leave a comment???
