Ebertfest: Day Four

Q & A after the screening of Nothing But the Truth
Enjoy Mat Dillon as eye candy until I can blog about Day Four later today. Just got back from a lovely Ebertfest party and its so late and I gotta pack and sleep and prepare for tomorrow’s screening. Last Day… boo hoo!
but a brief recap – I saw:
Sita Sings The Blues
- EXCELLENT, incredibly original animated feature with an awesome back story and strong, delightful woman filmmaker.

Sita Sings the Blues director, writer, animator Nina Paley
Break between screenings: I ate a Bratwurst.
Nothing But The Truth- solid drama with an all star cast and Hottie Matt Dillon in the flesh!

Nothing but... director Rod Lurie and Star Matt Dillon
Let The Right One In- Fucking amazing film from Sweden. There’s a Vampire and so much more… plus the filmmakers gave me a ride home.

Adorable Swede on Left, Me & Let the Right One In Producer Carl Molinder
After party at the home of lovely Betsy Hendrick – most of the filmmakers and guests were there, great food, drinks, I sang. We hung till after 3:00A.M. Great time!!

I used to have a crush on Matt Dillon back in the day. He’s aged well. You sound like you’re soaking up all the fun at the fest. The films sound great and I wish I were at that after party!

I had honestly not ever thought about him as a hottie one way or the other… Until I saw him in person and started reviewing these photos. There wasn’t a bad one of him!! I mean not even the blurry ones with his eyes closed! He just looked sexy… sigh…
I have had a wonderful time. The party was a great time to mix and really socialize with these great artists.

I cant believe the filmmakers of the movie I’ve been salivating to see took you home. I’m so jealous ! What was the conversation like?

Well, it wasn’t weird and creepy if that’s what you’re wondering! LOL They were great guys talking about their future work and how there is going to be an American Remake! We all shudderred in our boots. I said:
Aren’t you afraid they might screw it up?”
He didn’t seem to worried about it. It’s like their film is done, finished. No one can change it or what it was or is. Funny thing film makers. Unlike, screen writers, or playwrights, they make the final call on their work and what happens after doesn’t affect them, there is no small theater company in Timbuktu doing a post Apocalyptic interpretation of your original work.. Unless Of course if they have to change stuff for some big studio. But that’s the beauty of Indie film. They get the film made themselves and they don’t haveta answer to those big guys.
Note: The distruibuter that bought “Right One In” released the DVD with different subtitles….which I don’t get cause there was very little dialog in the film in the first place. AARGH!! So there is a price to pay for trying to get your film out there and maybe make some money. folks have complained bitterly (bet the distributors didn’t count on that!) and so I reckon they will change it back. I saw the DVD and the dialog isn’t drastically changed so it won’t ruin it for you.
