Ann Callaway can sing her ass off. I just want to say that first and foremost. I had two reasons for going to NYC this month:
1. See Ann Callaway at Jazz at Lincoln Center
2. Sing at Birdland again
It was a wonderful way to spend an evening in NYC. It was a perfect ending to [...]

That’s what I asked myself as I stood in line for Ann Hampton Callaway’s show at Dizzy’s Coca Cola in the Jazz at Lincoln Center facility. It was such a great gig. And it is big time. I couldn’t help thinking that I was so far away from a booking like this [...]

I don’t mean to sound all needy and shit but, well… no one leaves comments and so like I am wondering, is anyone reading this thing? And is it so boring and uninspiring that no one is even tempted to say…SOB!… hello? or Amen? or Fuck you? or anything??
Many thanks to those who do [...]

I woke up with an urge [...]

Well, I found out that Jennifer Hudson lip synched the anthem during the Superbowl. My reaction is simply: No wonder she sang it so perfectly.
One of my friends is very upset by this whole thing.I feel cheated! I felt this emotionality and come to find out she was acting!
Well, yeah, [...]

Now y’all know how I feel about the National Anthem. Sista girl knocked it out: she hit the notes dead on, had a respectable amount of emotionality, and chose her dynamics and flourishes prudently without a bunch of vocal runs, bells and whistles. I always think the song should be sung simply and [...]

What a crazy few weeks it’s been! I haven’t really been doing much. I am constantly sitting on the fence between complete happiness and total disdain for my life. Actually, that sounds as if I have some sort of chemical imbalance doesn’t it?
I never really made any New Year’s resolutions. I just want to [...]
